Leading the way
We’re breaking down barriers; flipping the script on what people think it means to be a woman in our industry.
Whatever your gender, you can belong in our inclusive team at Screwfix, and build the foundations of an amazing career.
This page gives you an insight into the strides we’re taking to help women succeed and shares stories from some of our current female leaders.
The future of Screwfix is you.
Come and explore our opportunities today.
Our policies
Screwfix is helping remove some of the barriers women face when progressing their careers as retail leaders.
This includes creating policies that make sure we’re always heading in the right direction, and help everyone feel like they can reach their full potential at work without limitations.
Flexible working
We are passionate about creating an inclusive culture that supports a good work-life balance.
We believe that having flexibility with our work can increase colleague motivation, promote work-life balance, enrich colleague wellbeing, and improve performance and productivity. So, whatever you’ve got going on in your personal life, we’ll try to provide a level of flexibility to support you.
Foster care
We want to be there for foster carers needing flexibility at work to meet the needs of their foster child/children.
That’s why we offer foster care leave and the option for flexible working arrangements. This includes being entitled to 1 weeks’ paid leave in any 12-month rolling period. This policy also applies to prospective foster carers, going through the approval process.
Kinship care
If you’re a primary or secondary caregiver to a child under a kinship care arrangement, this policy ensures we’ll support you.
With kinship care looking different for everyone, we have a range of leave options that’ll suit your circumstances. Your manager will be there to listen to you and provide you with the support you need.
Fertility
We know that receiving fertility treatment can be emotionally and physically challenging, so we want to be able to support you through it.
Paid leave is available for those with at least 26 weeks’ service. You’ll get up to 5 days paid leave (pro-rata for part time) in any 12-month period for fertility treatment.

Women's health month
September is Women’s Health Month at Screwfix, and we want to raise awareness of health issues that affect women and people assigned female at birth.
We want to encourage our colleagues to feel comfortable having conversations about their health, or finding support for health issues – this month, or any other month.
